About us
Who are we?
We are Caroline and Jonas, even though Caroline is more known as Linn. We love to work with our dogs but we actually do have regular daytime jobs, or at least Jonas does since he works as a IS/IT Manager and also runs a small company together with a friend were they make software for people with disabilities. Linn is an upper secondary school teacher in Swedish and Social studies. We live in the very south of Sweden on the east coast and every other week we also have two little boys, Linus and Fabian, living with us. When it comes to dogs, we live with what we refer to as ”two greys and one with a moustache” and that is our two Weimaraners, Sigge and Jaeger, and their little brother Dexter who is a German Wirehaired Pointer.
And what do we know about dogs?
Before we got into pointing dogs as a common interest we used to work with other breeds as well. Jonas used to have a Golden Retriever, he unfortunately passed
away just before he was going to retire. Linn got her first Weimaraner in 1995 and shortly after that she took her license to become a hunter. Regrettably he passed away too soon due to illness and Linn got Rottweilers instead for a couple of years, which she competed with in obedience and tracking. When Linn moved in with Jonas we noticed that his allergy was really getting a lot worse from the Rotts so, sorry to say, they had to move to new homes.
When our first common grey, Sigge, moved into the house we wanted to start training for someone that had a lot of experience with Weimaraners and their enchanted world. But since the breed was quite new in Sweden, it was difficult to find any good trainer nearby. So instead we started training with the Swedish German Pointer Club, and they turned out to be a group of really competent people! Not the dog-beating bunch that some warning voices had been talking about!
To further widen our perspective we also have been looking at other breeds that have about the same elements in their tests and hunting abilities. For example we have been trying to learn more about the English Pointers and the Retrievers, and how they are best trained.
The challenge for us has been to pick the best pieces from each trainer or breed and then adjust that to make wonders for a intelligent dog with a lot of energy and sharpness, but also a whole lot of will to please.
